The Story of God

     The Student Curriculum for First Baptist Church is built on two principles:
  1. Everyone loves to hear a story.
  2. Simple is better.
     Our goal is for students to journey through the Scripture from Genesis to Revelation every two years. We focus the main stories of the Bible so that students will know the whole Story of God as developed through Scripture.
     Each lesson seeks to tell one story and help a student learn one main concept that helps them better understand the Story of God in the Bible and in their lives. In keeping things simple, our desire is for kids to remember Scripture, not just the fun activities.     
     Finally, the lessons are online so they are easily viewed and downloaded.

Teaching a Lesson

Teaching a lesson is simple:
  1. Read the story to students from Scripture.
  2. Retell the story to students as if they were your own child sitting in your lap.
  3. Walk through the story using the talking points and allowing students to respond.
  4. Use the activity in "The Story Retold" to reinforce the story in a way that is not strictly verbal, but approaches other learning intelligences.
  5. Use "The Story and Me" to help students learn a memory verse from the story and apply to their lives.
